According to X (formerly known Tas Twitter), beloved actor-comedian Ewen MacIntosh, who rose to fame as Big Keith in the famous British sitcom ‘The Office,’ has passed away peacefully at 50.
His management company, Just Right Management, shared the sad news on X (formerly known as Twitter),
“With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved comedy genius Ewen MacIntosh. His family thank all who supported him, especially Willow Green care home. There will be a private cremation for family & close friends soon & a celebratory memorial later in the year.”
Ricky Gervais, co-creator of The Office, paid a heartfelt tribute to MacIntosh, writing on X,
“Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP.”
According to The Guardian, Chelle Just, who works for MacIntosh’s agents Just Right Management, said the actor has been sick for two years.
She said,
“Ewen was a wonderful actor and an even better human being. He made people laugh and possessed such a kind heart. He touched the lives of all who came into contact with him.”
Chelle Just continued,
“Ewen suffered from ill health these past two years and passed peacefully on 19 February from undisclosed causes. His family are heartened by and deeply appreciates all the outpouring of love for Ewen but would appreciate the privacy for them to grieve at this very difficult time. Ewen will be so very dearly missed. Godspeed Ewen.”
MacIntosh was best known for his role as Keith Bishop, the accountant at Wernham Hogg, who had a dull voicemail greeting and dreamed of being a DJ. Fans will remember Ewen MacIntosh for his talent and the warmth and kindness he brought to every role and interaction.

British comedian-actor Ewen MacIntosh was born on December 25th, 1973 in Wales. He’s famous for playing oddball Keith in a mockumentary sitcom called ‘14.’ Besides that, he’s been in many other TV shows and movies. He did a show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival with a friend and was on ‘Celebrity Come Dine with Me’ with Charlotte Crosby, Dawn Ward, Steven Arnold, and Jay Hutton. He also appeared in other British comedies like ‘Miranda’ and ‘Little Britain.’
In ‘Little Britain,’ he played a bus conductor named Cliff Roberts, along with Matt Lucas and David Walliams. In ‘Miranda,’ he starred as a taxi driver with comedian Miranda Hart. He was also in Ricky Gervais’ show ‘The Office‘ as Big Keith, and he had a small part in Gervais’ Netflix series ‘Afterlife’ as a guy who got banned from an all-you-can-eat restaurant.
Reports say Ewen MacIntosh might be single and hasn’t been engaged before, but few say he has a family but remained quiet about it. According to reports, Ewen MacIntosh’s parents are Sara and Ewen Sr, and he has a brother named Colin. One of his friends posted a tribute on X, mentioning his family and sending love.
Ed Scott, CEO of Dodged A Bullet Music and a close friend of MacIntosh, wrote, “I am completely devastated by the loss of my very good friend @ewenmacintosh He may have had a famous face known by millions as Keith from The Office but the person inside is what I will most remember.”
He continued, “Ewen was so full of empathy, kindness, and integrity and above all a really good man. Sending love to his parents Sara and Ewen Sr, his brother Colin and his family, as well as his many friends and fans.”
Furthermore, Ed Scott thanked the hospital staff. He said they gave incredible care and love. He especially thanked the nurses who loved him and made him smile daily.
