DC fans are left scratching their heads after the “Wonder Woman 3” movie’s latest development discussion. Whether the Third Wonder Woman will happen in the new DC Universe has become controversial, with conflicting reports about Gal Gadot’s return to ‘Diana Prince.’ According to the latest reports, Gal Gadot’s recent comments on “Wonder Woman 3” are allegedly falsified, contradicting the news of the third Wonder Woman at DC Studios. The Israeli actress recently took the world by storm when she revealed “Wonder Woman 3” could happen even after the director Patty Jenkins stepped down from the project and when DC Studios is also preparing a massive reboot of the DC Universe.

Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

New reports from Variety indicate that DC Studios is currently not working on the Third Wonder Woman project. It appears that Gal Gadot’s remarks about “Wonder Woman 3” being in development may have been premature. Consequently, there needed to be more clarity about what would remain in the DCEU as DC Studios transitioned into the DC Universe.

The “Wonder Woman 3” Movie Development Is In Doubt: What’s Happening?

Wonder Woman’ star Gal Gadot, 38, claimed in a recent interview with ComicBook.com that DC’s James Gunn and Peter Safran had discussed teaming up to develop “Wonder Woman 3.” However, sources with knowledge of the situation told Variety that DC Studios and Warner Bros. are not planning to make this film for now. According to the media outlet, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has not yet commented on “Wonder Woman 3” on any of his social media accounts since Gadot first mentioned the movie.

Also, ‘Paradise Lost’ is the only Wonder Woman project currently developing at DC Studios. According to the latest reports, it isn’t likely that DC Studios will produce a “Third Wonder Woman” film, nor are Gunn and Safran planning any other “Wonder Woman” projects in the new DC Universe other than the previously announced prequel series of ‘Paradise Lost‘ for HBO Max.

Adapted from the Wonder Woman comics, the prequel series has created a lot of anticipation and excitement among DC fans. Wonder Woman’s birthplace, Themyscira, will be the setting for the series, which will revolve around political unrest there.

What Gal Gadot Said About “Wonder Woman 3” Could Still Make It Happen?

There are still many questions about whether Wonder Woman 3, starring Gal Gadot, can happen and which elements from the original DCEU will be retained.

Wonder Woman

According to Variety, Gal Gadot has not been promised anything regarding her role as Wonder Woman in the new DC Universe. Now that Gal Gadot has specifically quoted what the DC Studios’ CEOs allegedly said to her regarding the Third Wonder Woman movie, there are two very different, contradictory versions of the story.

The Israeli actress Gadot, who initially expressed empowerment following the decision, said in an interview with ComicBook.com,

“It’s so close to and dear to my heart. From what I heard from James and from Peter is that we’re gonna develop a Wonder Woman 3 together.”

Gadot’s more recent comments in an interview with Flaunt magazine while promoting her Netflix film “Heart of Stone (streaming on Netflix) ahead of the SAG-AFTRA Hollywood strike read as follows,

“I was invited to a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran, and what they told me, and I’m quoting: ‘You’re in the best hands. We’re going to develop Wonder Woman 3 with you. [We] love you as Wonder Woman – you’ve got nothing to worry about.’ So time will tell.”

A similar situation occurred after Black Adam’s post-credits scene when Henry Cavill announced his return as Superman. In a tweet, James Gunn revealed later that the new DC Universe would feature a younger Superman played by someone other than Cavill.

It is impossible for a DC Universe to exist without Wonder Woman, so whether Gal Gadot will reprise her role as Diana Prince in the new DC Universe must be revealed at some point. Currently, DC Studios and Warner Bros. are focusing on and promoting their latest upcoming movie “Blue Beetle” starring Xolo Maridueña, which will be released on August 18, 2023.
