At the Bafta Awards 2024, the movie Oppenheimer’ was a big winner, and three people got special honors. They were Cillian Murphy, Robert Downey Jr., and director Christopher Nolan. Irish actor Cillian Murphy won the Best Actor award for his role as J. Robert Oppenheimer, who’s known as the father of the atomic bomb. Robert Downey Jr. won the Best Supporting Actor Award for the film.

When Cillian Murphy got his award, he was amazed and thankful. He thanked everyone who worked on the movie and gave a shoutout to his “Oppenhomies.”

Murphy said, “Oh boy. Holy moly. Thank you very, very much BAFTA.”

He also praised director Christopher Nolan and said, “Thank you for always pushing me and demanding excellence because that is what you deliver time and time again.”

This was a big win for the British-American director Christopher Nolan, too. It was his first Bafta win, even though he’s made other great movies like ‘Dunkirk,’ ‘Inception,’ and ‘The Dark Knight.’

Another winner at the BAFTA Awards was Emma Stone. She won her second BAFTA for Best Actress. She was recognized for her role in the movie ‘Poor Things,’ where she plays a British woman, whose brain is put into a baby’s body in a steampunk world.

Award-winning actor Cillian Murphy thinks actors get paid too much. Reports say he got $10 million for playing J. Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s iconic film, ‘Oppenheimer.’ However, Murphy feels uncomfortable with his salary as an actor.

Irish actor Cillian Murphy’s net worth is $20 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth. His movies, like ‘The Dark Knight,’ have made billions. His latest film with Nolan earned him another $10 million reportedly.

In an interview with The Guardian (Via Mirror), Murphy said acting is overpaid. The Irish actor told the media outlet, “I’m just a f*cking actor. There are doctors and nurses and f*cking people that work. I struggle with that. I mean, actors are overpaid, you know?”

He continued, “It’s nice when you get paid, when you’re young, and you’ve gone from having no money, but the Catholic guilt kicks in immediately, and I’m like ‘It’s all going to go wrong. You don’t deserve this’. And I don’t.” 

He struggles with feeling deserving of his pay. While Murphy isn’t the highest-paid actor, he still believes actors are paid too much.

According to the Mirror, Irish actor Cillian Murphy is not a big fan of fame. He doesn’t talk much about his life when he’s not acting. He prefers a quiet life with his wife and two sons. Even though he’s been nominated for Oscars and won BAFTAs, he feels uncomfortable about being paid a lot for his acting gigs. But he stays down-to-earth.

The 47-year-old has been married to Yvonne McGuinness, 51, since 2004. They met at one of his band’s concerts in 1996. They have two teenage sons, Malachy and Aran. Recently, they moved back to Ireland to raise their kids. They live in a beautiful old house in Monkstown, south Dublin, which doesn’t have internet. Despite his fame, Cillian likes to keep things simple and reportedly doesn’t have a phone.
