Gal Gadot Discusses Her Role As Queen Cleopatra And The Controversy Surrounding Her
During a recent interview with Vogue Hong Kong, the Israeli actress Gal Gadot expressed her passion for the story of Cleopatra. There have been controversies surrounding the casting of Gadot as the Egyptian queen in the upcoming project. Her casting hasn’t been well received by fans, given her Israeli heritage, but the actress has responded.
Gadot said during the interview,
“I grew up with so many stories about Cleopatra, and she’s like a household name. You know, if Wonder Woman is the imaginary strong female leader, Cleopatra’s actually the real one.”
“All I ever saw in regards to Cleopatra from the film was that she was this seductive woman who had an affair with Julius Caesar and Marc Anthony. But the truth is, there’s so much more to her.”
According to reports, at the time of its announcement in 2020, Gadot’s Cleopatra film was supposed to be directed by Patty Jenkins, who helmed Wonder Woman. The publication reports, however, that Kari Skogland now takes over the directing role. However, Gal Gadot, as Queen Cleopatra, will win everyone over with her intense performance in her upcoming movie.
