Netflix’s latest gripping drama, ‘Griselda,’ is a six-part limited series featuring the talented Sofía Vergara. This compelling show, meticulously crafted by Netflix, delves into the riveting narrative documenting the ascent and descent of Griselda Blanco. Journalist Justin Vallejo takes viewers on a captivating journey through the real-life psychotic spiral of the ‘c*caine godmother,’ unraveling tales of dr*g-fueled orgies and the homicidal paranoia that fueled Miami’s notorious c*caine war.

For Sofía Vergara, renowned for her comedic roles in projects such as ABC’s ‘Modern Family’ and the 2015 film ‘Hot Pursuit’ alongside Reese Witherspoon, the series Griselda offers a rare opportunity to showcase her dramatic acting prowess. Sofía Vergara is eager for viewers to recognize the significant effort invested in portraying Griselda Blanco for this Netflix series, including meticulous prosthetic transformations.

Sofía Vergara Shines In Netflix’s ‘Griselda,’ Unveiling The True Tale Of A Ruthless Cartel Leader Griselda Blanco

Netflix’s new TV series, ‘Griselda,’ is not a documentary but a drama that looks at the dr*g world. The show premiered on Netflix on January 25 and has six episodes. The lead actress, Sofía Vergara, 51, who fans might know from the sitcom ‘Modern Family,’ is acting and producing this show. It tells the story of a Colombian woman, Griselda Blanco, and how she became a big deal in the Miami dr*g scene in the 1980s.

Sofía Vergara as Cartel Leader Blanco

Even though some parts are made up, the series shows us how Blanco made it big and became known as the “Godmother of C*caine.” It also demonstrates how brutal and violent things were in the dr*g world in Miami during the 1980s. Blanco had lots of nicknames, like “La Madrina,” “The Black Widow,” and “La Dama de la Mafia.” But for people who didn’t like her, the name Griselda Blanco meant death.

Sofía Vergara plays an entirely different and intense role here. Vergara recently visited The Kelly Clarkson Show to talk about her new show on Netflix. She wanted to share exciting details and tell people about her hard work behind it. Unlike Kelly Clarkson, who said Vergara’s transformation into Griselda was smooth and effortless, Vergara broke Clarkson’s assumptions by telling her that her role makeup was much more challenging than she had imagined. She puts all her feelings into the character, even changing her appearance with unique makeup to look like crime boss Blanco. Fans might not even recognize her in some scenes.

The series also follows June Hawkins, played by Juliana Aidén Martinez. She’s a single mom working in the police force, and just like Blanco, she’s the only woman in her department. She works hard to solve murder cases connected to the dr*g cartels. The stories of Blanco and June Hawkins seem to be going in the same direction and might meet. Other actors like Martin Rodriguez, Vanessa Ferlito, and Christian Tappan also do a great job.

The show is interesting because it discusses the natural history of that time, and the creators put a lot of effort into making it look authentic. If you like thrilling stories, you can watch all six episodes of the ‘Griselda’ miniseries on Netflix.

Sofía Vergara Opens Up About Limited Acting Opportunities Due To Accent

In Netflix’s ‘Griselda,’ Sofía Vergara has embraced her most intense role yet, portraying the infamous Colombian dr*g lord Griselda Blanco. This marks a notable departure for Vergara, typically known for her light-hearted and comedic roles.

She expressed her enthusiasm for this new venture and told the Los Angeles Times, “I’m always looking for characters because there’s not much that I can play with this stupid accent. I can’t play a scientist or be in Schindler’s List. My acting jobs are kind of limited.”

Vergara acknowledged her lack of formal acting training and challenges, particularly being married to the classically trained actor Joe Manganiello. Reflecting on her preparation process, she mentioned, “I had no clue what it meant to have a process. It was tricky because I don’t have any real training as an actor. I was married to Joe [Manganiello], who is a f*cking classically trained actor. I would ask things and I would see how he would prepare. I was kind of always like, ‘What do real actors do? Can I do this?’”

She continued, expressing her doubts the night before filming began: “The night before I was going to start shooting, I was sitting down in the living room and I thought, ‘Why the f*ck did I think I could do this? Just because I put on a rubber nose, they’re not going to know that Gloria Pritchett is talking?’ They’re going to say, ‘Who does she think she is?’”

Recognizing the distinct nature of the Blanco character, Vergara committed herself fully to the role. To ensure authenticity, she enlisted the guidance of acting coach Nancy Banks, known for her work with acclaimed actors like Margot Robbie and Jennifer Aniston. This deliberate effort underscores Vergara’s dedication to delivering a compelling performance in this unique project.
