The Oscar nominations for the 96th Academy Awards were announced, and things got messy. This year had many amazing movie performances, so some talented people didn’t cut surprisingly into the list of nominees.

Christopher Nolan, Bradley Cooper, Martin Scorsese, and Emma Stone were nominated for the 96th Academy Awards in different categories. Bradley Cooper had a fantastic morning – he earned 7 nods, including 3 individual Oscar nominations, for his movie Maestro, making him one of only two people with this achievement. Additionally, the director of Maestro became part of an exclusive group of actors who directed themselves into Best Actor nominations twice. Unfortunately, he couldn’t make it for best director.

Oppenheimer was the top contender at the 2024 Oscars, receiving 13 nominations. Zazie Beetz and Jack Quaid told us who’s up for the Oscars in 2024 on Tuesday, January 23. The 96th Academy Awards, led by Jimmy Kimmel, will be on live TV on March 10. People from more than 200 countries can watch it.

It’s Very Surreal”: Bradley Cooper Thrilled Over ‘Maestro’ Securing 7 Oscar Nominations

Actor-filmmaker Bradley Cooper, 49, is thrilled that his movie ‘Maestro‘ got nominated for 7 Oscars. This isn’t the first time for Cooper, though. Before this, he was nominated nine times for the Oscars. He got nominated for different things like being a producer, writing the screenplay, and five times for acting. This nomination is extra special for him as he secured 3 nods personally in different categories. Cooper got picked for the ‘Best Actor’ award. He’s also in the running for ‘Best Picture’ and ‘Best Original Screenplay‘ for ‘Maestro‘ which he wrote and directed the movie. Sadly, he didn’t get a nomination for ‘Best Director‘ this time.

Deadline’s spokesperson, Pete Hammond, talked to Cooper on the phone, and the director-actor honestly shared his feelings. Cooper said,

“I mean just first of all, it is the year itself, to be included in a year where there’s just such incredible films. And then when we were finishing the movie, there was a discussion of whether it would come out next year or this year, and I remember thinking that I knew the movies that were coming out.”

Bradley Cooper expressed his feelings and said,

“I thought it would just be amazing if we were ever so lucky to be in a mix with these films, and these performances so it’s a thrill. And for all the work that everybody put in, for many of us to be acknowledged, you know, Pete it’s like very surreal.”

The actors from the Netflix movie ‘Maestro‘ had a happy time after they got nominated for the Oscars. In the film, Bradley Cooper plays the well-known composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein, while Carey Mulligan takes on the role of his wife, Felicia Monteleagre. They were excited about the recognition their movie received at the Oscar nominations.

Oscar 2024: Bradley Cooper, Greta Gerwig Snubbed For Best Director

Bradley Cooper got three nominations for one of his masterpiece projects, ‘Maestro,’ in Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Original Screenplay. The movie secured a total of seven nominations at the Oscars in 2024. However, he did not get a nomination for directing, just like with his 2018 film, ‘A Star Is Born.’

96th Academy Awards (Oscars 2024)

Greta Gerwig, the director of ‘Barbie,’ and Celine Song from ‘Past Lives’ weren’t nominated for directing. On the bright side, this year, it’s not just men in the directing category. Filmmaker Justine Triet is also nominated for ‘Anatomy of a Fall‘ in the categories of Best Director and Best Original Screenplay. Other nominees include Martin Scorsese, who won before for ‘Killers of the Flower Moon,‘ Christopher Nolan for ‘Oppenheimer,’ Yorgos Lanthimos for ‘Poor Things,’ and newcomer Jonathan Glazer for ‘The Zone of Interest.’ Although Gerwig and Song missed out on directing nominations, they did receive nominations in the screenplay categories.

After the nominations were announced, America Ferrera and Ryan Gosling, stars of ‘Barbie,‘ were disappointed. Ryan Gosling, who got a nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and America Ferrera, who got a nomination for Best Supporting Actress, expressed their disappointment with the Academy for not recognizing Margot Robbie in the Best Actress category and Greta Gerwig in the Best Director category.

Omissions And Surprises: Margot Robbie For ‘Barbie‘ and Leonardo DiCaprio For ‘Killers of the Flower Moon‘ Overlooked In 96th Academy Awards Nominations

The Academy shared the complete list of final nominations for this year’s Oscars. The list includes some of the best films and contributions from 2023 but also has some notable absences. Several highly talented actors and actresses were not considered for nominations, causing them to lose the opportunity to be recognized in the best actor/actress category.

Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie

It’s unusual for Leonardo DiCaprio not to get a Best Actor nomination, but his role in ‘Killers of the Flower Moon’ didn’t stand out compared to the other nominees.

Barbie’ was the top-grossing film of 2023, breaking records and giving Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ the toughest competition at the box office. Directed by Greta Gerwig and starring Margot Robbie, the film received praise for its unique mix of satire and drama, addressing existential themes. Surprisingly, despite its success, Gerwig and Robbie were not nominated for Best Director and Best Actress. Even with feminist themes, Ryan Gosling’s sole acting nomination from the film makes Robbie’s exclusion even sadder.

Looking at the final nominations, the Best Actor category has intense competition this year, which makes DiCaprio and Robbie’s snubs less disheartening.
