Greta Gerwig’s touching yet satirical movie ‘Barbie’ starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, about Mattel’s iconic doll, was released the same day on July 21 as Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ a powerful biopic about Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb. Many fans affectionately referred to the two films as “Barbenheimer” before their release and became a hot trend on social media. Despite both being expected to do well financially, Barbie reportedly emerged as the clear winner of the summer blockbusters.
The movie’s opening weekend has broken Several records at the box office. In addition to receiving rave reviews, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie has broken several box office records. Margot Robbie has wowed audiences with her impressive acting skills in the blockbuster hit. This article will also explain why one aspect of the movie has shocked everyone, including the actress’ friends, despite the chemistry between Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, loved by fans.
Barbie Wins The Box Office In Contrast To Oppenheimer, Margot Robbie Pays Off Her Mother’s Mortgage With Movie Earnings
Greta Gerwig’s superhit ‘Barbie’ reportedly has earned over $382M at the box office since its release, ultimately defeating Oppenheimer. In light of some of its previous poor openings, Warner Bros. predicted Barbie would earn over $75M in box office sales, but it surpassed that figure within four days and earned four times that amount.
Due to marketing hype, brand recognition, and its PG-13 rating, Barbie‘s production budget was recouped quickly, and there was so much to delight moviegoers. As well as breaking box office records, the ‘Barbenheimer’ trend probably helped both films get more views than they would have otherwise. But Barbie‘s success went beyond its pop-cultural cachet.
Apart from the movie’s success, in an interview with a media outlet, Margot Robbie, 33, spoke about paying off her mother’s mortgage from her movie earnings after her mother financially supported her earlier in her career.

Margot Robbie And Her Girlfriends Are Disappointed As She Didn’t Have A Kissing Scene With Ryan Gosling
In an interview with People, Margot Robbie, 33, revealed that her friends teased her for missing an opportunity to lock lips with Hollywood’s biggest star, Ryan Gosling, in the blockbuster hit Barbie. During the interview, the Barbie star discussed how her friends reacted to the lack of on-screen romance between her and Gosling.
During the interview with People, Robbie said,
“All of my girlfriends were like, ‘Well you did a whole movie with him, and you don’t kiss? What’s wrong with you? I thought you were kind of in charge on this one!’”
She added,
“I was like, ‘I know, I can’t check that one off [my list]’.”
During the joint interview with Robbie, Ryan Gosling said,
“It was so funny trying to figure out what their idea of kissing might be. I’m so glad all of that got cut out.”
Gosling did not mind how Barbie and Ken’s relationship was depicted in the movie when the movie’s producer, Robbie, seemed somewhat disappointed with the lack of onscreen romance. It was nevertheless delightful to watch Robbie and Gosling’s onscreen chemistry together.
Elon Musk Mocks Barbie’s Anti-Patriarchy Message
Greta Gerwig’s feminist satire “Barbie” received a mocking treatment from Elon Musk. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Twitter (X)’s CEO Elon Musk has joined the Barbie feminism chat by mocking the biggest box office hit on Twitter, which is rebranded now as “X“.
Musk wrote, “If you take a shot every time Barbie says the word ‘Patriarchy,’ you will pass out before the movie ends.”
His reaction was in response to a ‘Barbenheimer’ meme comparing Twitter to Barbie and his new social network, X, to Oppenheimer. The 52-year-old responded to a movie-themed meme poking fun at Twitter’s “X” logo, which replaces Twitter’s blue bird logo. Margot Robbie’s stereotypical Barbie experiences an existential crisis when she leaves Plastic Barbieland for the real world to resolve her existential crisis as she attempts to understand feminism and patriarchy. Nevertheless, Mattel Films’ executive producer Robbie Brenner told the Hollywood Reporter that the film isn’t feminist.
Both Barbie and Oppenheimer in theaters now!
