Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer secured 13 nods in Oscars 2024

Christopher Nolan’s new movie about the atomic bomb, Oppenheimer, got 13 nominations for the 96th Academy Awards. It’s doing well in the awards season. Another movie, a funny one called Poor Things, got 11 nominations. Also, Martin Scorsese’s big crime movie set in the West, Killers of the Flower Moon, got 10 nominations. These three movies are competing for the top prize in Hollywood, which is the best picture award.

There are more movies in the running for best picture, like Greta Gerwig’s popular Barbie, the throwback to the 1970s called The Holdovers, a romantic drama called Past Lives, a movie about race called American Fiction, a biopic about Leonard Bernstein called Maestro, a French courtroom thriller called Anatomy of a Fall, and a drama about the Holocaust called The Zone of Interest.

The movie Barbie made history by winning the first Golden Globe for cinematic and box office achievement. It’s a Warner Bros. film and was the top-earning movie in 2023 worldwide and in the United States. Now, it has a trophy to show its success in theaters.
